We set off to journey from Ak'Anon (one edge of the world) to Erudin (the other edge). It had not been done, as far as we knew, by any Gnome in the Younger Age.

We bravely set off from the gates of Ak'Anon, had a brief scare with a mad Gnome named Nornin Kaytes who attacked us (but we bravely turned our tails and fled), journeyed through Steamfont, the Butcherbloks and at last arrived at the Kaladim Port.

There, we did the boat wait thang. During the meanwhile, we practiced our magics. I spent my time practicing Alteration with my mini-teleport spell, Fade, while Graul spent his time casting minor (and very amusing) illusions.

Eventually, the boat arrived and we scuttled aboard (probably a bad verb to use for this particular ship). Again, we did the boat thang and watched the sirens, cyclops, aqua gobbos, etc., go by. At last, we made it to Freeport.

Our First Time on a Boat...but it Seems Oddly Familiar

There, we reprovisioned from our supplies in the bank and departed at once for the West Gate to begin our journeys.

The Gate to Journeys Unknown (Freeport)

Swiftly crossing the bleak desert outside Freeport, we crossed into the Commonlands beyond. We journeyed toward the Nektulos Forest and then attempted to skirt this dangerous area by hugging the mountains and continuing South.

The Savannahs of the Commonlands

This strategy was...err...flawed. There were simply too many critters out there. We had barely journeyed five minutes into the commonlands when we were ambushed by two orcs, an orc oracle, a *gigantic* spider, and some lions. Graul went down immediately while I led the accosters on a merry chase across the savannah. Ahead I spied an inn...and beside the inn...a guard! Tears of joy streaming down my face, I streaked toward the guard, only to hear a loud roar behind me and to feel the sharp claws of the lion eviscerate me from behind.

My soul joined Graul's in the netherworld and we returned to Ak'Anon once again.

Oh well...we'll try again soon. Meanwhile, we spent the rest of the evening killing orcs in Crushbone. Maybe we should have done that from the beginning. hehehe.
